Tiara Standard Poodles

The Tiara Standard Poodles produced today are the result of over 30 years of
selective breeding and they lead the entire breed in health testing
accomplished AND results registered on OFA. To date, there are over 50 Standard Poodles bred by Tiara certified CHIC and these go back to dogs of the Nineteen-eighties.  A list of these CHIC Poodles are listed on the

Tiara Poodles are bred at under 6% COI (10 generation calculation) and there have been national winners in agility and conformation over the decades. These poodles are beautiful, easy to train and just superb companions. They are now in their third generation fed a raw food diet and the 6th and 7th generation designated CHIC. Breeder, Julie Borst Reed, started over three times during the Nineteen-seventies until the right foundation bitch was acquired and proven. Julie attended and learned at over 2 dozen consecutive national specialty shows. In years gone by, the gene pool represented at the national was more diverse, pedigrees and characters of the standard poodles were met for the first time at this big show. Now, sadly, it is often/primarily the same dogs' pedigrees over and again seen at the National and although many of the Standard Poodles are lovely, their pedigrees are highly inbred.

Julie and her husband Kirk are hoping more people begin to see that
diversity, where it still can be found in Standard Poodles, needs to have
the individuals health-screened for genetically-transmitted disorders and if
determined worthy with basic testing, their genes preserved. They feel that
they are doing their part in this area and hope to encourage others to do
the same.

Black is the color they primarily breed and cream and apricot are produced
on occasion.  There are, on average, 3 litters a year in which Standard
Poodles (only) may be available.  Sizes produced range from smaller to
average-sized Standard Poodles (20 - 60 lbs).
